Oral History of Former Members of the LDS Church

This website I made for LIS 307: Oral History fulfills Learning Outcome 3a. It demonstrates that I can use Omeka, commonly used in archival settings, to create a website that makes accessible the oral histories I collected. I transcribed some of the interviews to offer further access to the audience. These stories were previously uncollected and unavailable to potential researchers and interested parties both within and without the church. By creating this website, I hope that people who need to hear these stories can now access them.
It also fulfills Learning Outcome 4a. Before collecting the oral histories, I had to research the historical context in order to better formulate interview questions. I also wrote consent forms and discussed the privacy rights with all my interviewees. During the interview, I was conscious of the audiovisual techniques and issues we talked about in class. While uploading the files, I used basic Dublin Core to briefly describe the items. I used the professional skills and ethics I learned about over the course of the program all throughout the project.
